Current IssuesRecreation groundThere have been several complaints recently about litter on the recreation ground, including broken glass. Apart from the obvious danger this poses to children who play there, it is unsightly and a nuisance, and the Parish Council are considering what steps can be taken to alleviate this problem. Church clockThe latest visit by Smiths of Derby identified the fault with the chiming. The clock must never be switched off, as it has been in the past (eg. for weddings). Hopefully, there should now be no further problem. Proposed prohibition of waiting in ScalfordThe draft order for the prohibition of waiting in the village of Scalford can be found at www.leics.gov.uk/parkingmatters. Low cost housingParishioners are reminded that they can apply to occupy any of the housing at Stonestile Gardens when they become vacant. If anyone wishes to have their name on the waiting list, they should let both the Melton Borough Council and the Housing Association know. Contact numbers can be obtained from the clerk (01949.861256). AllotmentsThe subject of allotments appears on the agenda every three months (March, June, September and December). All allotment holders are invited to attend these meetings to discuss any issues relating to the allotments. The charge for each allotment is £10 per year, with a £50 deposit to be paid when first taking over the site. This deposit will be repaid on relinquishment of the allotment, providing it is left in a neat and tidy condition; otherwise the money will be used to pay for reinstatement. |
