Current Issues

Scalford sheep wash

The Scalford sheep wash is to be restored with the help of the Probation Services. The work is likely to start after July. The old sheep wash lies on a public footpath off the main Melton road, just before the last left hand bend travelling towards Melton Mowbray. The Parish Council would like to encourage residents to go along and see it.

Red telephone kiosk

The red telephone box in Scalford is amongst those earmarked for removal by BT. The Parish Council feel this would be unrealistic, as there is no other 'phone facility close by, and there is a poor signal in Scalford for most mobile phones. These comments have been passed on to the MBC.

Scalford Notice Board

The new notice board has arrived and will be fixed as soon as possible.

Village Hall car park

The Parish Council are arranging to adapt the new gates to allow access to coaches. Meanwhile, part of the gate is being removed temporarily to allow full access to coaches.

Proposed prohibition of waiting in Scalford

The draft order for the prohibition of waiting in the village of Scalford can be found at www.leics.gov.uk/parkingmatters.

Low cost housing

Parishioners are reminded that they can apply to occupy any of the housing at Stonestile Gardens when they become vacant. If anyone wishes to have their name on the waiting list, they should let both the Melton Borough Council and the Housing Association know. Contact numbers can be obtained from the clerk (01949.861256).

Allotments

The subject of allotments appears on the agenda every three months (March, June, September and December). All allotment holders are invited to attend these meetings to discuss any issues relating to the allotments.

The charge for each allotment is £10 per year, with a £50 deposit to be paid when first taking over the site. This deposit will be repaid on relinquishment of the allotment, providing it is left in a neat and tidy condition; otherwise the money will be used to pay for reinstatement.
